u5 Soft Lacrosse
A fun, play-based introduction to the basics
The St. Thomas Surge offers an introductory lacrosse program designed to welcome our youngest athletes and their families to the game. Open to children turning 3 and 4 years old in the current playing year, this program provides a fun and engaging first experience with Canada’s national summer sport.
Whether your child is interested in pursuing box or field lacrosse in the future, this foundational program is where our coaches and volunteers help young athletes learn the game and begin building a love for lacrosse. Sessions focus on learning the FUNdamentals in a safe, encouraging, and play-based environment alongside a parent or guardian. No body contact is allowed. Soft stick checking is allowed.
To ensure a safe and positive experience, one parent or guardian must accompany each player on the floor during all sessions. All on-floor helpers must be registered as a “Volunteer” prior to participating. There is no cost to register as a volunteer. This requirement ensures all participants are properly covered under Ontario Lacrosse Association (OLA) insurance.
