ABOUT
Powering the Next Generation
The Surge Lacrosse Club is proud to be St. Thomas’s home for youth box and field lacrosse, offering fun, inclusive programming for athletes from Peanut (ages 3–5), U7 (ages 6–7), and U9 (ages 8–9) through U11 (ages 10–11). Our purpose is to grow the game locally while developing confident athletes, strong teammates, and a connected community.
Founded to make lacrosse accessible to all families, The Surge provides a positive first sport experience and a clear pathway for long-term development. Whether a child is picking up a stick for the first time or building advanced skills, our programs emphasize age-appropriate learning, encouragement, and enjoyment.
As a grassroots club, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where athletes grow physically, mentally, and socially. By working alongside families, schools, and municipal partners, we strive to keep our programs affordable and welcoming. At every level, we focus on teamwork, development, and community pride — building not just players, but well-rounded young people.
The Surge is about more than wins and losses — it’s about friendships, character, and creating meaningful opportunities for youth in St. Thomas. We invite families to join us and become part of the Surge community — where every player matters and every athlete has the chance to shine.

Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that the lands on which we gather to play lacrosse, traditionally known by Indigenous peoples as the Creator’s Game, are the lands of the McKee Treaty (Treaty No. 2), signed by the Wyandot and Anishinaabe Nations, including the ancestors of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation. These lands are also the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, the Attiwonderonk (Neutral), and the Mississauga Nation, who have long provided stewardship of the land and waters in this region.
We recognize lacrosse as a sacred game gifted by the Haudenosaunee and honour the Indigenous peoples who have preserved and shared the game across generations. In the spirit of the treaty relationship — rooted in mutual responsibility, respect, and shared stewardship — the St. Thomas Surge are committed to ongoing learning, reconciliation, and honouring the original caretakers of this land today and for future generations.
